we want to talk about the mainstream media, abc, cbs this week. you know how many stories, how many times they touched libya this week on their nightly evening broadcast? >> andrea: take a shot in the dark and say zero. >> eric: 100% right. >> andrea: yeah. not surprising. what is interesting is they were engaged in the beginning. they were engaged and they came out, fangs blazing. why did they come out? against mitt romney. >> greg: and the video. >> andrea: we know that. they tried to use it as an opportunity when there were four dead americans to take down romney. the minute romney backed off, they disappeared and helped go along with it. >> eric: may, i please. >> andrea: not all of them. >> can you at least agree with us that these networks should be covering this story? >> bob: yes, they should. >> eric: why aren't they? >> bob: i have no idea. i assume they're part of the grand conspiracy and coverup going on an meet in the white house every morning and get directions of what they are supposed to come in the news. you decided "new york time

i want to run a number that jumped out at me from the cbs/"the new york times" poll. in this poll, they asked ohio, florida and virginia voters do you think things in your state, the economic conditions in your state are getting better, worse or staying the same? you look at florida, 37-25 better. virginia 39-19 better. ohio, you have the unemployment rate lower than the national average. 52% better, 17% worse. pretty big difference there. is this just a case where the economic conditions in a particular state are kind of overriding national factors? >> i think that's possible. certainly the case of the state economy stronger than elsewhere and the auto bailout is a tangible example to look at the president saying that's something that made the economic conditions where i live better and not true elsewhere in the country but i will note that broadly speaking romney's performing worse in states where the economy is doing well and like in iowa and the unemployment rate is lower than it is in ohio so i think it's not just as simple of whether the economy is doing well an

it runs just exactly counter to the quinnipiac "new york times" cbs poll. >> bill: okay, now, when these votes are excuse me, when these votes are cast in states before election day, they are immediately cointed, right? are they immediately counted? >> no. they are generally put aside. what they do is they catalog who has cast the early ballot. >> so they know who is voting. now, on a -- just on a toe tattle basis in ohio. are more -- have more republicans voted than democrats in ohio or is it just a percentage that's higher? >> no, no. it's just -- there are more democrats who voted than republicans. but four years ago the democrats had a huge massive in the early vote. you know as i showed in those numbers, there are a lot more republicans voting than voted four years ago and a lot fewer democrats. so there is a great -- there is parody between the two parties. >> bill: why do you think if the polls say ohio is so close that more democrats voted ahead of time than republicans? >> well, traditionally democrats do a better job of turning out certain elements of their coalition and absent

i watched scott pelley on cbs, all storm coverage. no political coverage. both campaigns have had to suspend campaign events, and one other interesting connection, the obama campaign is out with a new ad this morning, hasn't been heard anywhere else. woe have it exclusively on "full court press." >> i have to say the administration, and fema director has outstanding so far. i appreciate the president's leadership and telephone call and if we do need something i have got the number and i'll be sure to use it. i want to thank the president personally for this personal at attention. >> i'm barack obama and i approve this message. >> you guys are making ads now? >> yeah. [ laughter ] >> bill: what do you think? >> he is a big figure in the republican party there's no doubt about that. >> bill: first of all this is what the governor ought to do. he ought to be pumping for his state, with getting every penny he can for the people of his state, and caring about his state, right? and where is the help coming from? not mittens. it's fema and obama and the president

that is from the cbs quinnipiac poll. let's start with you on this, congressman. the good news is that the president's lead is shrinking. we've seen it go down dramatically in those battleground states. the bad news, though, is that he is ahead. even if it's a squeaker. >> i think there are a couple of things to think about on this. number one, volunteers who are knocking on doors of those who have not voted yet come back with a very different message than what you're getting in the polls. for the president, the fact that there are still undecideds and the independents seem to be breaking toward mitt romney, that is not good news for him. it shows the momentum is definitely with mitt romney. people want change. they want action on day one. and they've been presented a very clear choice between the president and mitt romney. >> do you have any concern that in a state like yours and states further south they'll go for romney by these overwhelming margin margins, are you concerned that obama will win the popular vote, romney will win the electoral college or perhaps
